About Us

Fresh Water Counseling is a Christian counseling practice in Colorado Springs, Colorado, built on a simple belief: there is hope, and healing is possible.

Kerry Favara, MA, LPC, EMDR has spent over a decade specializing in work with survivors of abuse and complex trauma, dissociative disorders, anxiety, depression, and the need to process faith. She operates from a Christian perspective and worldview, and her Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health from Denver Seminary gives her a solid foundation for the moments when theological questions are part of the struggle. Her emphasis is on creating a safe environment where the impacts of trauma can be explored and healed, and where a new understanding of self can take root. Kerry is EMDR trained and certified, trained in DBT, and uses ego-state therapy (parts work) and clinical hypnosis alongside evidence-based care. She is also the author of Healing Ourselves in the Aftermath of Trauma: A Prayer and Meditation Guide, born from years of praying, meditating, and guiding people toward understanding the fractured parts of themselves.

John Favara, LPC, NCC, EMDR has spent nine years working with survivors of abuse and complex trauma, dissociative disorders, anxiety, depression, and faith questions. A Denver Seminary graduate (2016), he works from a Christian worldview with a psychology-first approach, specializing in complex trauma and dissociative disorders including DID. He is trained in EMDR, DBT, CBT, solution-focused therapy, hypnosis, and ego-state therapy, helping clients engage more effectively with reality and come to terms with what it means to have suffered, in order to heal.

Together, Kerry and John welcome all survivors of emotional, verbal, physical, sexual, and religious trauma. They offer both in-person sessions at their Colorado Springs office and online therapy, because no one should have to walk this road alone.
